Guidance regarding vehicle information
The European Commission recently published guidelines on the processing of vehicle data, within the scope of Regulation (EU) 2023/2854 – also known as the Data Act.
These guidelines, which came into force on 12 September, are aimed at the automotive sector and seek to clarify obligations regarding the sharing, classification and compensation for the use of vehicle-generated data, with a particular impact on manufacturers, after-sales service providers and insurerance providers.
In Portugal, this framework is complemented by a new resolution regulating data collection by Inspection Centres (CITV), with practical effects starting this October.
